The JSC "Rostov optical-mechanical plant" (ROMZ) is the biggest manufacturer of night vision equipment in Russia.

The JSC "ROMZ" was founded 1968 in the ancient Russian town of Rostov-the Great ( Yaroslavl region ) 200 km north of Moscow. From its very founding the enterprise was specialized in producing of optico-mechanichal and optico-electronic devices.

A beneficial geographical position of the company in the center of the Russian industrial zone favors timely supplies of up-to-date electronic components, as well as makes accessible modern technologies and facilitates contacts to scientific and research centers of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. It also allows quick deliveries of ready products to our trade partners abroad.

The personnel of the company numbers some 2500 employees.

The JSC "ROMZ" has a big range of production facilities on its own enabling nearly the complete production cycle within the company. There are a foundry, optical and assembling workshops and many others. This allows the enterprise to avoid the dependence on external supplies of components and makes the cost of its products lower.

The JSC "ROMZ" employs a whole department of highly qualified designers who enrich the export program of the company with new products. Some of those developments were awarded special prizes in specialized international shows. For example, the NZT-P with a power unit with piezo crystals using no battery for work won the Big Golden Medal in the Innovations and Technology Show in Bruessel 1996.

For more than 25 years of work the specialists of ROMZ have gained quite a big experience in the field of Night Vision.

From military systems to civil equipment enabling the possibility for everyone to see in the dark - that was the path of the ROMZ company to advance from "yesterday" to "tomorrow". And more and more modern and complicated products became landmarks in this progression. First, there were such relatively simple units, as the NZT-1 (CYCLOP-1) which introduced the international market of civil night vision products. Nowadays, there are already much more complicated night vision systems to start with II. Gen. Devices (CYCLOP-101 - night vision goggles, CYCLOP-102 - night vision binoculars), including NZT-AI enabling to see objects behind fog, snow, tree leaves, light curtains etc and compact thermal imaging devices.

The products of ROMZ belong to different industry branches:

• The main activity - night vision systems for both civil and special applications;
• Medical instruments for magnet and laser therapy. The products of "IZEL" range, "Bee-1" and Bee-2";
• Production of artificial diamond powders and tools.
